October 15, 2011 – 2:41 amKeaton Jones led the St. Marys Eagles to a ninth place finish at the Ontario Federation of Secondary School Associations Golf Festival in Belleville.
Jones had a two-day total of 151 (78-73) to finish in a tie for 17th in the individual standings, while the Eagles quartet of of Jones, Colton Clemmer (80-83), Brett Kudoba (83-83) and Brett MacDonald (83-84) finished in ninth of 20 entires in the team standings with a 450 total.
The top three scores each day counted towards the team championship.
Osama Khan (70-66) of Appleby College finished first in a playoff, while London Saunders finished in first with a 450 team total.
The following is written by at student at the Elmira-Cameron game keepingstats.
Joseph Fife with 285 passing yards, with the help of his amazing receivers; Ted Sebben, Brandon Nickel, Connor Stewart. (All with crazy plays including Connors 90 yard reception.. :0..) Plus Sab Huber running the ball for 135 yards averaging 9.6 yards per carry (Including a 70 yard run for the final TD to win it)
Total of 418 yards on offence Unfortunatly I didnt record the defensive stats. I… believe there was four interceptions though plus one strip and a lot of bone crushing hits laid out.28-21 for EDSS vs CHCI – Most exciting HS football game Ive watched. PROPS CAMERON you put up a great battle! * * * Speaking of great battles, the Forest Heights-Sir John A. Macdonald field hockey showdown was a bit of a dud as the Highlanders cruised to a 3-0 win to finish the season undefeated at 15-0. The Trojans fell to 12-2-1. I wonder if Forest Heights co-captain Emma Stairs — who really was a fun person to interview — regrets saying the Trojans biggest challenge would be Resurrection at CWOSSA. With the regular-season now history, quarter-final playoff games are set for Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Budd Park. Waterloo-Oxford (8) vs. SJAM (1) Jacob Hespeler (7) vs. Forest Heights (2) Elmira (6) vs. WCI (3) Cameron Heights (5) vs. Bluevale (4) * * * They are certainly determined to play this game. The Galt Ghosts and Eastwood Rebels will try for a third time to play a junior boys soccer game on Monday afternoon at Eastwood. The teams were prohibited from using a wet field in their first scheduled meeting, while the Ghosts (or so Im told) simply didnt show up for the rematch after a busing mistake earlier this week.
Could it be the coaching magic of Rich Newbrough and Dave (Tuffy) Knight?
After two blowout losses to start the season, the St. David Celtics have rebounded with a pair of wins since the coaching legends agreed to help Newbroughs son Scott run the team.
Simon Newbrough (Scotts son) accounted for 22 points in a 34-0 win over Forest Heights on Wednesday.
The Trojans had won the first meeting 27-6 so its obviously quite the turnaround.
