Pharmacy School Grants

Many private organizations and pharmaceutical companies are offering financial assistance to individuals, academic research projects, as well as contributions to this field. Students in the pharmacy programs can get their educational funding through minority college funds, financial aid programs that are school-based, and industrial associations. Divorced families may receive financial help by taking grants for single mothers. The guidelines vary from one financial aid program to another. The applicants can also be limited based on their career goal, academic achievement, or ethnicity. Before submitting the application forms applicants must review the requirements of each grant.
Pharmacy Association Scholarships
Pharmacy associations have financial assistance programs to help the members complete their academic programs. APHA-ASP awards multiple scholarships to the pharmacy students who have their APHA-ASP membership. Students with NCPA membership and interest to pursue a career as a pharmacist can apply to the NCPA’s Foundational Presidential Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded based on the leadership ability and academic achievement of the students. As of February 2011, it pays up to $2000.
School-Based Scholarships
Financial aid for the pharmacy students are offered by many pharmacy schools. This financial aid ranges from full tuition scholarships to student loans. School of Pharmacy – University of Southern California is offering scholarships to the pharmacy students. The financial aids are awarded based on their academic achievement, leadership abilities, career goals, and community service history. As of February 2011, the scholarship amount ranges from $1,000 to full tuition. College of Pharmacy – University of Texas, Austin is also offering multiple scholarships through their Endowed Presidential Scholarship program. To benefit from this financial aid program students must obtain a minimum average of 3.25 grade points. As of February 2011, the minimum financial award starts at $2,500.
NACDS
NACDS has a scholarship program to the pharmacy students. Robert J. Bolger scholarship, Leonard J. DeMino Pharmacy Student Scholarship, Edmond Fougera Scholarship, and Taro Research Foundation Scholarship are the main scholarships awarded through NACDS. Number of scholarships awarded by this program varies every year. Recently they have awarded 85 scholarships to the pharmacy students. Only full-time pharmacy students who are working towards their pharmacy degree are eligible for this award. Selected students will get a scholarship ranging from $2000 to $5000.
Check out the requirements of the pharmacy schools for entrance. Many pharmacy schools send invitation to the applicants qualified for the scholarship program. In turn, the applicants will send an application to scholarship providers.
Rite Aid Competitive Pharmacy Scholarship
Students with an average of 2.5 grade points and at least two years of schooling in pharmacy can apply for the Rite Aid Competitive Pharmacy Scholarship program. The applicants must also be a Rite Aid intern or a dependent of an individual working with Rite Aid. Even if you don’t meet the above mentioned criteria you may still be eligible for the scholarship depending on your pharmacy school location. Students of Minnesota, Arkansas, Wisconsin, and other states without the Rite Aid Pharmacy are also qualified for the scholarship application. The program awards $1,500 for each successful applicant.
Start your pharmacy school grants search as soon as possible. Experts recommend that the college-bound students must start their search during their high school freshman year. After identifying the potential awards, you can choose activities and classes that might increase your chances of winning a specific scholarship in the future. Most of the scholarship programs have strict deadlines and heavy competition. So do not put it off until the last minute. You can also submit your applications online. For this you have to include a current curriculum or resume, letter of recommendation from recent or current chain pharmacy employer, cover letter, and a letter signed by an authority figure at school verifying GPA.
