From the Mason athletic department:

In the 10-year history of the Mason girls golf program, there has been only two coaches: Fred Reeder and now Michelle Lipka. Pending school board approval, Lipka will become the new girls head coach this fall after guiding the boys team the past three years.

Michelle has done a great job with our boys golf program, said Mason Athletic Director Scott Stemple. Coach Lipka is highly qualifed and we anticipate shell do a great job in the girls position as well.

Lipka has been a PGA golf professional for the past 20 years. She has worked the past six years as a staff professional at Four Bridges Country Club. Michelle played three years of Division I golf at Florida International University and competed in two NCAA National Championships. Lipka played on the 1987 Futures Golf Tour and made the cut in all 18 events. She was the Kentucky State High School Individual Champion from Laurel County High School. Lipka was a multi-sport athlete and also received a full basketball scholarship to the University of Cincinnati. She has two sons (Paul and Parker) and resides in Mason with her husband Don Lipka.

I am honored to have been chosen, said Lipka. I will do my best to continue the outstanding Mason tradition.

The Mason girls golf program established a dynasty in their sport over the past several years winning an unprecendented 3 straight OHSAA Division I State Championships.

This past season marked the Lady Comets fourth consecutive and fourth overall apperarance in the state golf championship. The Comets placed 2nd overall in 2007, before earning titles in 2008, 2009 and 2010. With an outstanding underclass of talented golfers returning this fall, the future continues to look bright for the girls program.

The athletic department hopes to name a successor to Lipka for the boys head golf position in the immediate future.
