Northwest High School is pleased to announce that Nicholas Maffey has accepted the school’s head varsity wrestling coach position. Mr. Maffey is a 2002 graduate of Northwest High School, and is looking forward to the opportunity to return and lead the Knights: “I am excited to be back home and for the opportunity to help mold the student-athletes at Northwest. This is a great community to be a member of and I couldn’t be more eager to begin the season.”
He has spent the past five seasons as a varsity assistant with the wrestling program at Hamilton Badin High School, where he helped build a successful program that produced a two-time state qualifier, several sectional champs and placers, a GCL Central league championship, two GCL Central wrestlers of the year, a league champion, multiple first-team all-league wrestlers, and multiple league placers.
Northwest Athletic Director Joe Pollitt said that “Nick is a great addition to our coaching staff as he brings a great mix of experience, knowledge, enthusiasm, and leadership to our wrestling program; his dedication and ambition are contagious and he will continue to build the program.”
